You Are Not Pro-Life If You Don't Care About People

You are not pro-life if you don't care about people.

You are not pro-life if your compassion for people stops once they are out of their mothers' bodies.

You are not pro-life if your focus in life is on making your life healthier, your country safer, your education better.

You are pro-life if you are pro-Christ. That doesn't mean some vague concept of "I honor the Bible and vote republican and freak out if public schools ban prayer." It means "I sacrifice myself for the glory of God. I sacrifice my comfort and my possessions and my abilities to help others." Many people do this who are not Christians, simply because they are in tune with Christ's love and agonizing passion for those who are hurting.

There are so many things I don't understand, and this is one of them: how a person can shed crocodile tears for unborn babies, yet not give a second look at a baby who has grown up into a 24-year-old single mother imprisoned by debt or a 12-year-old boy separated from his parents while being deported.

Don't misunderstand: I hate abortion. But you know what I hate more?

    - A society that creates situations where abortions are desired or needed.

    - Devaluing human life to the point where our gender or race or sexuality becomes our identity and people become objects to satisfy our lust.

    - When babies grow up into children and teenagers and adults, and are abused and oppressed...not just because of our politicians and our laws, but because of US, the PEOPLE, who would rather look at one aspect of humanity, the fetus, and not the whole.

All people matter. I don't know how to convince you that people matter beyond the labels and the generalizations. You are pro-life when you seek out those who need help and then offer them your soul.
